CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Google has rolled out Gemini 4 Argon, its latest flagship AI designed for sophisticated professional applications. Announced on Sept. 30, Argon is positioned as the centerpiece of the Gemini 4 series. It is capable of supporting complex software development, financial analysis, legal research, and cybersecurity operations. The model also excels at managing extended reasoning and execution sequences. Currently, access is limited, with select cybersecurity experts engaging with Argon through the Fairwind Program.

The maximum token output for Argon has been increased to 1 million, a significant jump from the earlier 64,000-token cap. This upgrade enables the model to handle lengthier tasks without dividing work into multiple sessions. API pricing begins at $2 per million input tokens, while output tokens are priced at $10 per million during the initial phase. Cached inputs benefit from a 95% discount. Future pricing will rise to $4 for input and $20 for output tokens.
Already, thousands of employees within the company utilize Argon for coding, research, and writing tasks. Internal teams have tested its capabilities for optimizing data centers and migrating large-scale software projects. One initiative employed Argon agents to facilitate C and C++ migrations to Rust, while another focused on memory profiling across data centers. These efforts resulted in freeing over 300 tebibytes of memory, with further savings identified through ongoing analysis of these systems.
Enhanced Capacity for Extended Technical Work
Argon achieved a 77.9% score on DeepSWE v1.1, a benchmark for evaluating long-term software engineering capabilities, according to Google. The company also published results for applications in finance, legal tasks, automation, and multimodal functions. Developed by Google DeepMind, Argon is part of the broader Gemini AI family, integrating coding tools with advanced long-context reasoning and multimodal abilities. Its expanded output capacity is tailored to support multi-step processes that are essential for completing complex tasks.
Cybersecurity remains a key focus during this initial rollout. Argon can detect, verify, and address software vulnerabilities within authorized defensive environments. Through its Scan for Good initiative, Wiz is leveraging the model to identify security gaps in public infrastructure. Google reported a 68% score on CWE-bench v1, a benchmark targeting vulnerability remediation. Selected security professionals can also use Argon outside of standard cyber safeguards when working on approved security tasks.
Limited Public Access During Gradual Deployment
No firm date has been announced for widespread public availability of Gemini 4 Argon. Google is adopting a phased approach, collecting feedback from early users. The company also participates in a voluntary U.S. government process that offers pre-release access to advanced AI models. Once fully available, the model will be accessible to developers, enterprise clients, and consumers. Priority access is expected for paid API users and Google AI Ultra subscribers, although an exact launch date has not been determined.
Furthermore, Google clarified that Gemini 3.5 Pro will not be launched. This model had been anticipated before the Gemini 4 series. Instead, Argon now stands as the flagship AI solution for demanding reasoning and professional workloads. Alternative Gemini models remain accessible for users with varying performance needs and budgets. Currently, Gemini 4 Argon is primarily targeted at trusted testers, cybersecurity partners, and early-access programs, with broader release still pending.
