MENLO PARK, CALIFORNIA / Content Syndication Services / – Meta services were restored Friday after a brief outage disrupted access to Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and related business tools for thousands of users. The disruption began during the U.S. morning and eased before midday Eastern time, according to public outage reports and company status updates.

Users reported problems loading feeds, logging in, sending messages and accessing accounts across several Meta platforms. Facebook drew the largest volume of reports, while Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp also saw complaints. The outage affected both consumer services and tools used by advertisers, developers and businesses.
Reports rose sharply around 9:20 a.m. Eastern time and fell significantly by about 11:45 a.m. Eastern time. Downdetector, which tracks user-submitted service complaints, showed more than 113,000 Facebook reports at the peak. Instagram reports reached about 10,000 during the same disruption window.
User reports eased
Meta acknowledged that some users had trouble accessing its services and said teams were working to address the issue. Later Friday, the company said services were coming back online. Meta did not immediately disclose the cause of the outage or give a total number of affected users.
The outage also reached Meta business products. The company’s status dashboard showed high disruptions during the incident for Facebook Ads Manager, Messenger API, Messenger Platform and WhatsApp Business Platform. Those tools support ad management, customer messaging and business communication across Meta’s network.
Business services return
By late Friday, Meta’s business status page listed no known issues across the products shown on the dashboard. The restored services included Facebook Ads Manager, Marketing API, Messaging Ads, Meta Business Suite, Instagram Boost and WhatsApp Business Platform.
The outage added to the recurring attention on service reliability at large social media platforms. Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp serve users, advertisers and businesses across multiple regions. Friday’s disruption was brief, but the volume of reports showed how quickly access issues can affect communication, content sharing and digital commerce.
