CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA / RankWire.AI / – Bank of America has unveiled a $250 billion initiative aimed at financing vital infrastructure projects throughout the United States. Spanning 18 months, the program will encompass eligible activities from January 1, 2026, through July 4, 2027, with a focus on investments in digital infrastructure, energy systems, and key public works. The institution indicated that this effort will bolster projects related to technology, power generation, transportation, water systems, and other critical sectors.

Beyond conventional loans, the Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative incorporates a broader scope. Bank of America will include qualifying primary-market loans, investments, capital markets transactions, and advisory services toward reaching the $250 billion goal. The initiative also involves banking solutions and supply-chain services associated with eligible infrastructure ventures. Financing options will support both corporate entities and individual assets. To facilitate these endeavors, the bank will leverage its corporate banking, investment banking, and markets divisions while working with clients seeking funding for major U.S. projects.
Digital infrastructure is a primary focus within the program. Projects deemed eligible include data centers, telecommunications networks, semiconductors, computing hardware, and related equipment. The energy segment encompasses both traditional and renewable power generation, energy storage, and distribution networks. Core infrastructure initiatives involve transportation, electricity transmission, grid enhancements, water systems, critical minerals, and mining activities. Bank of America also emphasized that the program addresses increasing infrastructure demands linked to computing, manufacturing, energy supply, and domestic supply chains.
Funding encompasses technology, energy, and essential public infrastructure
The bank stated that its Global Capital Solutions and Global Infrastructure & Sustainable Finance teams will coordinate the execution of the initiative. All eight business lines are expected to participate. Jim DeMare, co-president of Bank of America, highlighted that the program centers on infrastructure critical to supporting the economy, energy security, and technological progress. The bank plans to monitor qualifying transactions during the 18-month window, with these transactions counting toward the overall $250 billion commitment.
Job creation and workforce development are integral components of the bank’s objectives for this program. Bank of America noted that infrastructure projects could generate employment opportunities in construction, manufacturing, technology, and ongoing operations. Additionally, the bank supports training efforts through collaborations with employers, nonprofit groups, and community colleges. In 2025, it allocated nearly $40 million to over 730 workforce development partners across U.S. markets, focusing on skills training, education, and job preparedness.
The financing initiative extends through July 2027
During 2025, the bank reported that its workforce partners connected more than 90,000 individuals with employment opportunities. These organizations also provided training, education, or career readiness programs to over 290,000 people. The figures were shared separately from the new infrastructure funding goal. Karen Fang, global head of infrastructure and sustainable finance, explained that large infrastructure projects necessitate coordinated financing across multiple interconnected sectors. She also serves as co-head of Global Capital Solutions.
Progress will be tracked based on eligible financing activity completed within the program timeframe. The measurement approach aligns with the framework used for the bank’s existing $1.5 trillion sustainable finance target. The new initiative concentrates specifically on infrastructure development and modernization within the United States. Its July 4, 2027, conclusion extends beyond the nation’s 250th anniversary. The bank emphasized that the effort aims to support infrastructure development, job creation, economic activity, and community growth nationwide.
